Happy 5784.

Well, we just finished up with the busiest time of the year for our synagogue. It was a joy to see everyone this year at services. I thank Rabbi Blatt and Nachum Peterseil for bringing an amplified feeling of togetherness and joy to our experience this year. Again, thank you to Mitch Weiss, the Kol Ami staff, and all  the volunteers who made this time of year a success. Their dedication, hard work, and planning ensured a successful holiday season. Our Sukkah looked amazing again this year with a revitalized look and engineering plan.  I appreciate the Brotherhood for implementing its new design and managing its construction and for sponsoring another successful Steaks in the Sukkah event. Thank you to Bob and Claudia Valins and Lew and Ileana Berger for donating the Bima flowers for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.  As well as a big thank you to Craig and Ann Kalter and Ron and Susan Pross for sponsoring our Break the Fast again this year. Max with Nosh Catering provided a delicious variety of foods. Finally, I would like to thank all who have contributed toward the Kol Nidre Appeal this year. If you may have overlooked your contribution, there is still time to make a donation through the website (just click on the donate tab) or by contacting the office.

This past Shabbat marked the first Holy Happy Hour of the new year.  Many congregants came to nibble on some food, drink some wine, and schmooze with other attendees. The event was greatly enhanced by the musical stylings of our very own Dr. David Berger. Our next Holy Happy Hour is November 17th, so mark your calendars so you don’t miss out. Please join us on Friday, October 20th for our New Member Shabbat followed by dinner. This would be a great opportunity to meet our new families who have recently joined.  We will be recognizing our New Members and honoring our Milestone Members. This can be a great opportunity for new members to learn about the history of Kol Ami from seasoned congregants with varying number of years spent as members.

While we have numerous events happening here at Kol Ami, we are also thinking of all of those in Israel. I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the war in Israel. Please pray for peace and a quick end to the hostilities and killing. For all of us who have family members and friends who live there, we pray for their safety.

L’Shalom,

Kevin Cross
