Mitchell Weiss

Executive Director, FSA.

Mitchell Weiss, was born in Paterson, New Jersey and raised in Edison, New Jersey. He holds an undergraduate degree from the  University of Tampa in Business and Finance as well as an MBA and MA from DePaul University. Mitchell has lived in Florida for over 25 years and has been an active participant in synagogue life. He worked for one of our largest financial institutions for 30 years, leaving his Vice President post to make a significant contribution to the community that he is a part of and loves. Prior to joining Congregation Kol Ami in 2014, Mitchell held the positions of Comptroller and Executive Director at Temple Beth Shalom in Sarasota, Florida. Under his direction, Congregation Kol Ami has seen many significant improvements, notable among them sinkhole remediation, three Homeland Security Grants, and a new website. Mitchell received his Fellow in Synagogue Administration (FSA) Certificate from the North America Association of Synagogue Executives (NAASE). Mitchell has been married for 43 years to his wife, Andrea, and has raised 4 successful daughters, 3 of whom have moved to Denver, Colorado. His second and third grandson, Theo and Odie were born in Denver, and one daughter still resides in Tampa with Mitch's grandson – Benjamin.

 

Being an Executive Director for Mitchell is not a job, it is a calling and one he answered willingly. He hopes to continue to make a significant contribution, not only to to the Executive Director profession, but to the Tampa Bay community and the Conservative movement.
