Shalom, Kol Ami!

Whoa!!!  The High Holidays were a whirlwind here at Kol Yeladim! We had a full house for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.  So many kids and young adults helped us pray and celebrate the new year!  Our USYers, led by Rabbi Marc, led a fun “camp style” Junior Congregation, and Mrs. Ruffkess led fun games and activities for our 3rd-7th graders!  Rabbi Marc led a discussion for our USYers after EVERYONE got to enjoy a snack provided by our School Board Chair, Shaina Shuford!

Even though we did not have traditional Sunday School in September, we have had some great fall holiday experiences.  Our 3rd-7th graders made sukkah decorations, and we hung them up after the rain ended. The sukkah looked festive and ready for everyone to enjoy Sukkot! During our Sukkot Junior Congregation, we had fun with Legos and Play-Doh!  We made sukkot and lulavim and etrogim!  We have some very creative students!

October is also a busy month for our fall holidays!  We will be celebrating Sukkot with our Pizza in the Hut Program on October 4th. Our first Holy Happy Hour of the year will be on Friday, October 6th, and we hope you will join us for Sips, Songs, and Simchat Torah on Saturday, October 7th at 7:30 pm.  I know it is late for our younger families, but we would love to see you come and dance with the Torah for at least one or two Hakafot!  We will have drinks for adults and children!

Kol Yeladim goes to the Farm!  We can’t wait to learn about Parshat Noach with our Kol Yeladim and Kol Ami friends ages 4-10!  We will be meeting at Old Micky’s Farm in Odessa at 9:30 am on Sunday, October 22nd.  Check your email for more information!

Shabbat School starts this month!!!  Yay!  Our 6th and 7th graders will be attending Shabbat School on select Saturdays; the good news is that they will not need to attend Sunday School on those weekends.  Please check your email for all the dates, and be sure to mark your calendars.  This is a mandatory program for ALL 6th and 7th grade students.  Students will get to practice the services with our Shabbat School tutors and eventually begin to lead services BEFORE their big day!  This is a wonderful way for our students to feel comfortable and ready for their bar/bat mitzvah!  Parents are STRONGLY encouraged to attend services too!

There is so much fun this month at Kol Yeladim. See you around Shul!
