Communication is the bedrock of any successful synagogue. Communicating effectively is more than just exchanging information; it’s about understanding the emotions and intentions behind the message. Some of the more frequent communication methods utilized at Kol Ami involve verbal, written, and now digital.

Written forms are the most common employed by Kol Ami and include the Weekly Watch (which I know you are aware of if you are reading this now), the good old US Postal Service, emails, text messages (sign up with the office if you are not receiving), flyers in the lobby, and information in the Jewish Press. Some verbal forms include word-of-mouth, calls from our phone tree volunteers, and weekly announcements at Shabbat services. Instagram, Facebook, and Kolami.org are a few of our most common digital communication outlets. Please take an extra minute to open and peruse any of these forms of communication for Kol Ami as they come across your computer, phone, or in your mailbox.

As we enter the summer months, and congregants are busy with vacations, summer camps, or theme park trips, communication between the synagogue and our community will continue. Communication is a powerful tool for sharing knowledge, information, and resources within our community. Whether it’s disseminating important updates, organizing events, or addressing common challenges, effective communication channels ensure that information reaches all community members. This inclusivity fosters a sense of unity and encourages collective collaboration.

I am available to communicate with all of you through email, phone, or text. Or stop by and connect with me in person at Kol Ami!

L’Shalom,

Kevin Cross
