Brotherhood President, Yoav Rappaport

It is with immense pride and gratitude that I step into the role of Brotherhood President. Our Brotherhood is more than just a group — it is a vibrant and dynamic community rooted in Jewish values, camaraderie, and a shared commitment to our faith and traditions. Together, we have built a space where ideas flourish, diversity is celebrated, and every voice is welcomed.

As we embark on the upcoming year, I am excited to share the incredible programming and events that lie ahead. From our engaging Torah on Tap” sessions to lively social gatherings like Hang Outs and Craft Beer tastings, we are committed to fostering connections and creating opportunities for all members to learn, grow, and bond. Our award-winning initiatives, such as the Firearm Safety program and Kol Ami Txoko, demonstrate the creativity and inclusivity that define our Brotherhood.

I am thrilled to announce that Kol Ami Txoko, our Men’s Culinary Club celebrating Jewish culinary traditions from across the Diaspora, was honored with the prestigious Golden Torch Award at the recent Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs (FJMC) convention in Chicago. This recognition underscores the impact of Txoko in fostering community through food, culture, and shared experiences. By exploring the diverse flavors and stories of Jewish cuisine, Txoko has created a unique space for connection and learning, strengthening the bonds within our Brotherhood and the broader Kol Ami community. Our next Txoko is Tuesday, September 9 titled “Russia and the Caucasus Region (Georgia & Armenia). Space is limited so please contact Brotherhood if you would like to be added to the RSVP announcement and sign up for Txoko Club (separate dues from Brotherhood).

The FJMC convention was a resounding success for Kol Ami Brotherhood. In addition to the Golden Torch Award, we received the Quality Club Award for the fifth consecutive year, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our members. These accolades reflect Brotherhood’s commitment to enriching Jewish life at Kol Ami and beyond.

Our immediate past President, Jon Zimmer, was recognized as one of the “Ma’asim Tovim” winners for the Florida region, honoring his outstanding contributions and leadership. Jon’s efforts have left an indelible mark on our Brotherhood, and he now serves as President of the Florida Region Chapter of FJMC. His passion for fostering growth and connection within the Jewish community continues to inspire us all.

Jon and Glenn Yancey represented Kol Ami with distinction at the convention, attending seminars on topics such as interfaith dialogue with Turkish Muslims, the Abuyudaya Jewish community in Uganda, and genealogy research. Glenn even discovered a distant cousin during one of the sessions, demonstrating the power of shared history and connection. These seminars provided valuable insights and strengthened relationships with Brotherhood members across North America, reinforcing the importance of collaboration and learning.

Looking ahead, I am inspired by the vision and dedication of leaders before me, who remind us of the importance of community and innovation. Together, we will continue to honor our traditions while embracing the future with open hearts and minds.

Upcoming Brotherhood Events:

7/21 - 12 pm: RODEO at Brunchies (Please RSVP to the Kol Ami Office or Mark Jaffe if you plan to attend)

7/27 -  1-5 pm: Lunch & Movie : E.T. & Pizza at Eddie & Sam

8/24 – 10 am: Kick-Off Breakfast & Speaker

Thank you for entrusting me with this role. I am excited to work alongside each of you as we strengthen our Brotherhood and deepen our connections to our faith, our community, and one another.

Am Israel Chai!
