Shalom, Kol Ami!

Happy Secular New Year from my family to yours!  I hope everyone is rested and ready to start the new year!  That means we can’t forget that we still have a war raging in Israel and many hostages still unaccounted for.  We should pray that they are all released quickly in the new year!

December was a quick month for Religious School.  We only had a few Sundays, and then we went on Winter Break.  It was packed full of Chanukah fun though.  Thank you to everyone who helped plan, set up, take down, and came to the “Let it Glow” Chanukah Celebration on December 10th.  Even with the rainy evening, we had a great turnout!  The kids had a blast with the Sisterhood Scavenger Hunt put together by Karen Borden! The food was amazing thanks to Max and Nosh Catering. Thankful for all my teachers, especially Davina Horowitz & Alissa Chernin for helping with the entire event. And of course, Sam Ruffkess, Shaina Shuford, Ari Horowitz, Heather Hall, & Rabbi Marc Blatt for making the event run smoothly and look wonderful!  Sharon, Kevin, & Staci Cross were perfect at the door to welcome and register those who came! And of course, Mitch Weiss and Rabbi Blatt, who ALWAYS have my back and help me execute our vision! This event was different this year, because we had a COMMITTEE to plan and set up the party!  I hope that for the next events we can have more committee participation, so we will have even more fun!

January is a short month for Religious School, but we will have several events we hope you will attend. Pizza and PJ Shabbat will be on January 12th, our Family Shabbat is on January 19th, and we are looking forward to our Tu BiShvat In-Person event on Wednesday, January 24th.  And one of the most important events of the year, the Kol Ami Gala will be on January 20th.  I hope to see many of you attend this fun “Prom Night”.  Individual tickets and sponsorships are available!  Check out the Kol Ami website for all the details!

Looking ahead, if you would like to help plan the Purim Carnival that is scheduled for Sunday,
March 24th, we will begin meeting to plan, starting this month.  Please reach out to me if you would like to volunteer!  We know that the more people who help plan an event, the more fun the event will be!  We also plan to have a “shpiel” for the Megillah Reading.  If you want to be a part of this, please keep an eye out for information and rehearsal dates and times.  Purim is one of my favorite holidays, so I can’t wait to have a great time!

Happy New Year!

Am Israel Chai,
