Jennifer Halls, Education Director

Shalom Kol Ami!

Happy 2023!  I wish you and your family a Happy New Year.  I am looking forward to the new semester here at Kol Yeladim.  We have so many fun and educational activities for our students and their families.  The end of 2022 was also very eventful.  We had so much fun at our Congregational Chanukah party.  Our Olympic-themed party saw lots of games and fun family competition.  Yasher Koach to Tamar Blomster and her committee for planning a great event that was very well attended by our congregation!  Our Kol Yeladim students created many of the decorations for the party and had a blast!

This month we return to Religious School on Wednesday, January 11th for our 3rd-7th graders via Zoom and Sunday, January 22nd for our whole school.  We start back later than usual this semester due to the Hillsborough County School District calendar and the observance of MLK Weekend this year.  Our teachers, however, will be busy planning for this semester and working on our Semester 1 Progress Reports.  Look for those in the mail in late January.

When we return to school, we will be getting ready for Tu B’Shvat and Purim!  We have some fun cooking activities that we will need parent volunteers to help us with, particularly prep and clean up.  So check your calendar for Challah baking with MK in the Kol Yeladim Kitchen and Hamantaschen baking with Sisterhood in our Congregational Kitchen.  These are always fun and educational programs that bring our youth and families into the shul for core Jewish family values.  I am looking forward to bringing our Kehillah together; it is my favorite part of being a Jewish educator!

Please check out the website and calendar for all the fun programming we have for all ages! Happy New Year from my family to yours.

See you around the Shul,

Jennifer Halls
