Shalom!

Last month I had the opportunity to attend the Women’s League of Conservative Judaism Convention, which was held at the Hyatt Regency in Schaumburg, Illinois, outside of Chicago. This was the first convention in 6 years held in person. Everyone was glad to be together again and to be able to see their old friends and make new ones. The main themes for the convention were getting back together and how important it was for people to physically be together – Sisters Celebrating Together. This is important for us to remember as we start the High Holiday celebrations. Being with our family and friends together in Shul is important. I look forward to seeing you all at Kol Ami during services for the High Holidays.

Sisterhood has a busy fall schedule of events planned. We start August 24th with our Girls Night Out at The Tampa Wine Room on North Dale Mabry. We have met here before, and it is a fun evening of talking and being with friends. We continue on September 7th with our Holiday Baking event. Karen Borden will be leading us in baking a fall apple dessert (Honey Baked Apples) that you will be able to take home, or eat there, and enjoy. This event will take place starting at 6:15pm. The cost for this event will be $10 to pay for your supplies. If you just want to attend and learn, there is no cost. RSVP for this event on our website: https://www.kolami.org/event/sisterhood-holiday-baking.html

After the High Holidays are over, we will be holding our Paid-up Member Event. Every year, this event attracts many people to attend and pay their Sisterhood dues. This year, our event will focus on replacing the used, and lost, items in our Kol Ami kitchen. There is a long list of items that the kitchen needs, and you will be able to purchase or help sponsor the purchase of these items. We will set up a registry list of the items that we need. Look for our flyer in the Weekly Watch that will lead you to this list and how to purchase the supplies needed. This will be like a regular kitchen shower!! But it will help us provide better catering and Shabbat lunches for the Synagogue. The whole Congregation is encouraged to participate in resupplying our kitchen.

L'Shana Tovah, to a good and healthy new year!

Shalom,

Sharon Cross
Sisterhood President
