Shalom, Kol Ami!

This month, we will celebrate and remember our Exodus from Egypt and our bondage during our Pesach Seders.  This year is even more meaningful because we also remember those still in captivity in Gaza.  It is hard to “celebrate” when we are missing many of our Jewish brethren in the hell that is Gaza.  But if our faith has taught us anything, it is that we will survive and thrive!  I know I will leave a few seats empty at my seder this year to remind us that we are not truly free until we are all free!  Bring them home, NOW!

This year, it was also hard to “celebrate” Purim and the story of Queen Esther.  It is commanded, however, that we read the Megillah, have a festive meal, give gifts of food (Mishloach Manot), and give tzedakah.  Even in times of chaos, we make sure to fulfill the commandments.  We had a meaningful Megillah reading on Saturday night and Sunday morning.  Our students were able to hear the Megillah, dress up in their favorite costumes, and enjoy some Hamantaschen this year.  Our Purim Carnival, Star Wars Edition, was so much fun!  We had a bounce house, dunk tank, popcorn, face painting, games, and even a jail!  A huge thank you to all who helped with this event!  Please look for the Yasher Koach email thanking all the wonderful volunteers who helped make this a special event for our community. We will continue to pray that we Bring them home, NOW! to celebrate with us next year in Shushan.

This month, we will also hold our All School Shabbat and Potluck Dinner on April 12th.  Our PreK – 7th graders have been preparing all year to help lead this service, and we can’t wait to see them shine!  If you have not yet signed up for the potluck, please click this link: https://tinyurl.com/KApotluckApril. I can’t wait to see you there!

Mark your calendars! We have our next Pizza and PJ Shabbat on April 5th for our families with children under 8. We look forward to sharing Shabbat with you and your family.  Max and Nosh

Catering will provide the pizza, and Todah, the Shabbat Sloth, and Rabbi Blatt will provide the praying!

Please check out the website and calendar for all the fun programming we have for all ages!

 See you around the Shul,
Jennifer West
