USY
Message from Seth Pross,
USY President
The Tampa Bay Bucs used to have
the slogan "It's a new day in Tampa Bay" but year after
year it seemed like the same old thing. Then one year the slogan
finally held true! After getting situated in a new stadium the
Bucs soared to be one of the top football teams in the NFL.
The USY at Kol Ami seems to make the same promise each year
also but this year the change will finally take place. We, like
the Bucs, have our own place to play: the Youth Lounge. This
will give the youth a central place to call our own and the home
field advantage to succeed.
We have already begun planning a year full of exciting events
that will not only allow us to have fun with the other Conservative
Jewish youth in our community but also help the less fortunate,
learn, practice Judaism, and become leaders in society. Whether
it be having fun with road rallies, volunteering for the MDA
telethon, making Rosh Hashanah cards for Israel, leading services,
or just spending time beautifying our Youth Lounge, we energetic
teens plan on making ourselves proud to be active USYers.
I, Seth Pross, am privileged to have the
opportunity to lead the Kol Ami youth this year to greater
heights than ever before.
The rest of the Board is filled with some of the most enthusiastic
board members that I have ever seen, but leadership is worthless
without active members. We as a Board have the goal to not only
increase our membership by another 20% over last year but also
to double the amount of active members. We will be having a dance,
a concert, ropes course, sports events, and other creative ideas
to reach our goal. The upcoming year in USY will truly be "a
new day in Tampa Bay".
