Sisterhood
Sisterhood serves many key roles in the daily activities
of the synagogue. In addition to sponsoring the Kiddush for Shabbat and Yom Tov on a
regular basis, Sisterhood has many events through out the year including: Torah Fund -
Chanukah Party with the Men’s Club - Special programs and speakers on important
topics - Sisterhood Shabbat - Gift Shop - Mazel Grams
In the past we have supported the synagogue by purchasing chairs and a new
freezer. This year we are planning a kitchen shower, to provide some of the
many needed utensils. Please join (or rejoin) the Sisterhood

Men's Club
The Men’s Club is responsible for
many activities that support the core foundation of the synagogue. Among them are,
the Chanukah party, Kol Ami annual picnic, several Blood drives, and various meetings
with several fascinating speakers. We also package the Yom HaShoah Yellow Candles,
set up the Congregational Sukkah, and provide ushering (every Shabbat).
Volunteers are always welcome to help on these events; to volunteer to usher.
Please join (or rejoin) the Men’s Club and get active today.

Youth
Groups
Kol Ami's youth groups are dedicated
to providing a fun environment for their Jewish youth to socialize
and learn. The youth groups are separated by grade.
Boneem
is Kol Ami's youngest youth group. It consists of youth
from third through fifth grade. Boneem holds events once a month,
which are planned by the advisor(s).
Kadima is ,
what some might consider, a transitional youth group.
It is half way between Boneem and the oldest youth group, USY.
Kadima is available to youth in sixth through eighth grade. Kadima
has a board made up of Kadima members who plan their events with
the help of their youth advisor(s).
USY
is the oldest youth group. It consists of high school students
(grades ninth through twelfth). USY is mainly run by the
members of their board. They plan, schedule, and inform
others about the events. The youth advisor(s) for USY is/are mainly there
to guide and supervise.

Chavurah
The Chavurah
Program at Kol Ami provides a wonderful shared Jewish experience for everyone
who participates. It is one of the many ways to enhance your experience as a
Congregation Kol Ami member. Each Chavurah is a small group of congregants who
come together to learn, to socialize and enjoy Jewish living with their families.
They also participate together in synagogue life and community concerns. For many,
the Chavurah is an extended family.
If interested, contact Shari Zwirn or pick up an application in the synagogue office

Ritual
Ritual Participation
and Honors
Each and every Service provides an opportunity to extend an
honor to a congregant. Many kinds of honors are available
throughout
the week. For example, at the daily minyan, leading the evening
Ma'ariv Service or the Sunday morning Shacharit Service; and
on a Shabbat or Festival morning, leading a Service or reading,
reading Torah, chanting Haftarah, or receiving an aliyah or
other honor.
There are many life-cycle events
that are appropriately celebrated
by ritual participation: to commemorate a baby naming, a Yahrzeit,
an auf ruf, a birthday, an anniversary of becoming a Bar/Bat
Mitzvah, a wedding anniversary, a graduation, and recovery
from illness - or just to experience a good feeling. The Shabbat
morning
congregational aliyah, reserved for such life-cycle events,
also includes the opportunity to read Torah for the aliyah.
For scheduling purposes, requests should be made to Hazzan Jodi Sered-Lever
at the Kol Ami Office (962-6338 / hazzan@kolami.org)
or to the appropriate Ritual Committee member (listed in the monthly
Chai Lites and the weekly Shabbat Shalom Booklet) at least
one month prior to the event.
The Ritual Committee wants to accommodate your desire to receive an honor.
To do so, we need to know far enough in advance for scheduling
purposes, especially if your request occurs on a Shabbat when
a Bar/Bat Mitzvah is being celebrated.
Please note that for a "regular" Shabbat, most honors
not pre-arranged have to be extended prior to the Torah Service.
If it is your custom to arrive in shul "a little later",
please schedule your honor in advance.

Jay Fink Memorial Library
The Jay Fink Memorial Library provides materials and
programming for the congregation, Kol Yeladim Religious School and the community.
Located in the Chapel wing of our building, the library collection consists of a
variety of materials that enable members to enhance their experience of Jewish life
in a relevant Jewish library.
Committee members and Library Staff Volunteers are needed. Committee members meet
regularly to discuss our collection, approve new purchases, plan events as well as
coordinate the volunteer staff.
Library Staff Volunteers maintain our collection by cataloging books, computer data
entry, putting bar codes and labels on items, and helping patrons find and check
materials in and out of the library. Volunteers are also needed to help develop,
refine and archive our collection of Congregation Kol Ami photos and historical files.

Social
Action
The Kol Ami Social Action Committee is looking for volunteers to help coordinate
programs and projects that help others in our community and beyond. Last year, we
collected over 100 donations in our first ever "Chanukah Dreidel Drive" to benefit
the Tampa Jewish Family Services. We also collected over 2600 packages of M&Ms for
care-packs for Israeli Soldiers.
The Social Action committee needs your help this year to continue to reach out and
lend a hand to our community. If you would like to help, please contact Social
Action Chair Adam Shor.
